Come and watch the Icarus Cup for human powered flight, the event is free for the public to watch. Flying takes place daily between 06.00-09.00 and 18.00-22.00 daily (weather permitting).
The main airfield car park is closed between 17.00 - 08.00 so you should use the Aviator Hotel car park and come through the restaurant/bar to reach the airfield.

The second Human Powered Aircraft (HPA) 2013 Icarus Cup will take place at Sywell Aerodrome. The competition is designed to progress the sport from occasional records attempts into a viable activity and will feature a number of challenges, for which the successful team will be crowned the second winners of the Royal Aeronautical Society HPA Icarus Cup 2013.
Taking place over a period of 9 days between 19th and 28th July 2013, competing teams will try and complete the following series of challenges designed to test all aspects of Human Powered Flight.
2) A 200m sprint race
3) A 1km race
4) A slalom course
5) A takeoff performance and landing accuracy task
6) Distance around a triangular course
