The inaugural HPA Icarus Cup, taking place at Lasham Gliding Society from 13-22 July, will commemorate the 51st anniversary of Human Powered Flight at Lasham Airfield.

The competition is designed to progress the sport from occasional record attempts into a viable activity and will feature a number of challenges, for which the successful team will be crowned the first ever winners of the Royal Aeronautical Society HPA Icarus Cup 2012. Taking place over a period of 9 days, competing teams will try and complete the following series of challenges designed to test all aspects of Human Powered Flight.
- A 200m sprint race
- A 1Km race
- A Slalom Course
- A take off and landing accuracy task
- Distance around a trianugular course
The winning team will recieve a financial prize whilst the pilot who accumulates the most points will receive the trophy prize of the inaugural Icarus Cup.
Teams who wish to compete are required to download and return a completed copy of the Entry Form, along with all the required insurance and payment documentation to email@example.com or by post by to the address below by Friday 15 June 2012.

Please note, this is not a public event and those who wish to attend as a spectator at Lasham Airfield during the competition must be members of Lasham Gliding Society's. Daily membership is £9.25 per day and can be paid in cash one a membership form has been completed.
Flying will take place between 05.30 and 09.00am on 14-22 July and the tasks set up the Competition Director each day will take into account weather conditions.

Please Note: All competing teams and their members are liable to pay a membership fee to Lasham Gliding Society for the duration of the competition. The RAeS has been able to negotiate preferrential rates of £400 for the duration of the event for teams of up to 6.
